Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera
Aloe barbadensis miller
Hey! it's a plant whose latin name you already know. Aloe vera is probably the most commonly known succulent --for good reason. It has sturdy, triangular leaves with a gel like substance inside them which can soothe burns and chapped skin. It's truly medicinal, just break off a leaf and rub the goo into your skin -- it really works. But don't keep aloe in your medicine cabinet -- it needs more light than that. Try a bright kitchen window. The edges of these leaves can get sharp but trust us, it's a healing plant.
